The Meteor

The convenient catastrophe and the exit you will not choose.

Figure
The convenient catastrophe. The exit you would not have to choose.
Pattern
Hoping something happens to you so you do not have to do it.
What it protects
If it is done to you, it is not your fault.
What it costs
Nothing is coming. The lawn chair is permanent.
The move
Pick one thing the meteor would have ended, and end it.
ON FILE
One lawn chair, roof, 2023.

In each position

  1. HOW IT STARTED

You packed a bag for the end. Then you sat down to wait for it.

  2. HOW IT'S GOING

You are hoping something happens to you. It would save you from happening to yourself.

  3. HOW IT ENDS, ALLEGEDLY

You will say the timing never came. You will say it from the lawn chair.

Three questions

  1. What would the meteor have ended for you?
  2. Who gets blamed if it never comes?
  3. How long have you had the lawn chair?

A sample file

This office has reviewed the sky and can confirm that nothing is on its way. The file contains one packed suitcase, one lawn chair and a drink refreshed at regular intervals, all positioned for a change of plans that someone else would have to make. If it is done to you, it is not your fault, and the office notes that this is the entire appeal of looking up. xxx xxxx xxxxxxx xxx xxx xxxx xxxxx xxxx xxx xxxx xxxxxxx xx xxx xxxxx xxx xxx xxxxxx xx xxxx xxxx The office keeps a folding chair on its own roof, for the same reason, and the chair is very comfortable. One item the sky was expected to handle is still on file, unhandled. Nothing is coming to make the decision on your behalf.
